The BigBand - Haifa Jazz Band, continues to perform and surprise!
Following its success at the premiere
last December, the The BigBand - Haifa Jazz Band
is commencing in a new Jazz Series for Jazz Lovers to enjoy regularly
After years of enjoying our own symphony orchestra and theater, Haifa can now take pride in its newest performing arts organization: The Big Band Haifa Jazz Band! This professional ensemble is a division of the Haifa Symphony Orchestra comprising a fifteen-piece group with winds and rhythm section. Most of the players are members of the Haifa Symphony Orchestra with a few of northern Israel's top jazz instrumentalists brought in to fill out the ranks. The Big Band Haifa Jazz Band is led by Jeffrey Howard, the principal clarinetist of the Haifa Symphony. Before making aliya from the United States, Jeff performed with a number of jazz bands and combos as both saxophonist and leader.
The repertoire of the Big Band Haifa Jazz Band includes favorite jazz classics such as “Mood Indigo”, “String of Pearls”, “Harlem Nocturne” and “In The Mood”, to name a few. Great Jazz composers such as Vernon Duke, Hoagy Carmichael, Duke Ellington and Henri Mancini are represented along with many others. Jazz styles including swing, blues, latin and even rock are performed by the Big Band Haifa Jazz Band
So come and hear the excitement of the Big Band Haifa Jazz Band! Enjoy great jazz music from the Big Band Era to the modern jazz music of today – all of it performed with energy, style and class.

New General Director for the Haifa Symphony Orchetsra
Motti Eines, General Director of the Kiryat Yam Conservatory has been recently appointed General Director of the Haifa Symphony Orchestra. As part of his new responsibilities, Eines plans to establish a Friendship Committee to the Orchestra for the purpose of fund raising in Israel and abroad; to expand the subscriber base of the orchestra; to establish and develop a permanent Big Band in Haifa and to develop jazz and opera series to be performed by the orchestra. Eines has also made it a personal goal to expand the Orchestra's activities abroad and to tour Haifa's twin cities with the help of the Twin Cities Department of the Haifa Municipality.
Upon his entrance into office EInes said: "It is a personal honor to be appointed General Director of one of the best orchestras in Israel with Noam Sheriff as its conductor. I believe that in Sheriff exists a combination of a first-rate pedagogue, one of the most senior and leading composers in Israel and of course an exquisite conductor." Eines adds "I invite all residents of Haifa and the Krayot to enjoy a fabulous season, in which first-rate conductors and soloists will appear. We intend to present to the audience pre-classic pieces, less-renowned pieces, contemporary classical music and also Israeli pieces throughout the times."
Amongst the roles Eines has filled in the past: founding and managing the Kiryat Yam Conservatory, Chairman of the Eitan society - the Israeli Association for Youth Bands, founder and conductor of the Representation Blowers Orchestra, conductor of a concert at the United Nations Headquarters for the former UN representative for Israel, Mr. Dani Gilerman, and different musical and managerial roles at different orchestras across Israel.
